The Beliefs that Keep You Overworking and Overwhelmed

Jun 19, 2023

Your mind is powerful and your beliefs (the common thoughts that run through your head) are either helping you or holding you back.

This is a big part of the work I do with clients, helping them to shift their thinking and behaviors to keep stronger boundaries, say no with more ease and step out of overworking and feeling overwhelmed.

To get back to feeling more like themselves and be their best self at work AND at home.

Have you noticed that somewhere along the line you stopped listening to what YOUR intuition or common sense was trying to tell you?

You tried the traditional ways that everyone said would lead to success, but none of them felt like YOU or aligned with what you really want.

Maybe you can relate?

You were told or led to believe that . . .

“You have to do it all to have it all.”

So you scrambled to juggle all the big projects at work, getting your kids off to school and in all the activities, and leaving very little time for yourself.

“You need to be busy to be productive (and you’re lazy if you’re not).”

So you spent months (maybe years) going, going, going, and always on, only to leave yourself run down and spread thin, and not feeling very productive even though you’re putting in a lot of effort.

“You have to work hard and put in long hours to be successful.”

So you continue to sacrifice your happiness, well-being and personal time with your family. Even though it is hurting your performance, leading to burning out and you’re missing out on enjoying your life.

“You can't take a day off to rest and care for yourself, or everything will fall behind (or you think it's selfish).”

So you don't listen to what your mind and body are telling you when you need a break, even though when you don't take care of yourself, it ends up hurting your overall performance and everything feels harder than it needs to be.

“You can do it all on your own and don’t feel okay asking for help.”

This is sometimes the biggest culprit of all, especially for driven and ambitious women. Because you believe you have to do it all yourself, you continue to take on more, go it alone and not leverage the help that is here for you.

But these are the very beliefs and actions that are keeping you from what YOU really want.

Which one sounds most like you? This is a clue to pay attention and shift that story in your mind to a more empowering belief!

All my best,
