Being Real & Resilient In Uncertain Times

Apr 21, 2020

I asked busy leaders and professionals: "With everything going on in the world right now, when it comes to being your best at work and at home, what is your single biggest challenge or struggle?"

Here’s some of the common themes I heard . . .

"How do I separate work time from home time and have enough energy for both and not feel exhausted trying to do it all?"

"How do I manage expectations and continue to perform business as usual in a reality that is highly unusual?"

"How do I best support the people around me who are feeling anxious?

"How do I find time for myself, ease my own anxiety, and not burn myself out when i am taking care of everyone else's needs?"

"How do I remain optimistic when there is so much uncertainty?"

If these sound familiar to you, you are definately not alone.

Demands and expectations are likely still high. You and your team are working at home with more distractions, fewer breaks, and for some, trying to care for kids at the exact same time (and not lose your mind trying to do both). And, you might be worried about your health or business or future or all of the above.

Doing all of this might be causing added unwanted and unneeded stress for individuals, families, and relationships.

Building resilience has a tremendous impact on your ability to navigate uncertainty and maintain a sense of well-being and performance, especially in times like these. For yourself, your team, your kids . . . any person has this ability.

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient - Steve Maraboli

Much of what’s happening now is both out of your control and temporary – and you will find a way to persevere (even though you might not see it yet).

When you can be real and acknowledge how you're really feeling AND tap into your resilience by recognizing that your beliefs, thoughts and actions shape how you go through this and where you end up, it can give you a positive path forward.

Because while you might not have control over what’s happening to you, you do have a CHOICE over how you think and respond. You have a choice to thrive no matter your circumstance rather than just survive it.

It's in the most challenging times when you can find greater strength, a commitment to what you value, and a deeper connection with the people around you.

This is exactly why I designed my new VIRTUAL keynote presentation: "Being Real & Resilient In Uncertain Times" for leaders, teams and organizations to tap into their resilience for a greater sense of well-being, performance and to better support themselves and others around them to thrive in these uncertain times.

It is a 90-minute, engaging and interactive conversation where I'll share proven science and simple tools to build and tap into your resilience.

Participants will discover:

• Critical factors of resilience and how creating a buffer of optimism and a positive mindset makes a powerful difference in performance, well-being, and enables you to better respond in stressful situations

• How to acknowledge how you're really doing AND at the same time tap into your resilience so that you can be stronger and move forward in a positive and productive way

• How you have control over how you choose to think and respond in any moment, and what to do to shift and see a positive and productive path in any situation

• How to shift your focus to what really matters and create boundaries to manage your energy, take care of yourself and better balance your work, well-being and family time

• How to better connect with the people around you to strengthen connection, elevate performance and success, and support others to feel less anxious - whether it's your team or your kids!

Perhaps you are figuring out how to navigate expectations with a 'new normal’ and best support people with the change and uncertainty right now. Or if you're like many companies, you had an in-person conference or team off-site event that had to be canceled. Or maybe you’re already thinking about how to lead and ramp up for when everyone returns to work.

Why not shake things up and do something virtual? I've been doing online presentations for a few years now, and they can be just as effective . . . just in a different way! Because it's online, it can be done with groups of all sizes.
